After months of teaser trailers and still shots of abandoned motel rooms, Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul has released a two-minute trailer that properly shows off the show.

While other glimpses we've seen have focused on the show's comedic moments, this one has elements of its darkness, including a trip to the desert (above), a pretty foreboding place in light of Breaking Bad.

Bob Odenkirk's James M. McGill (later Saul Goodman) seems to be a fired up young lawyer, shouting in boardrooms, showing charisma in court and using his powers of persuasion on unsuspecting accident victims.

Better Call Saul co-creator Peter Gould yesterday confirmed what we really already knew: "Walt and Jesse will not appear in season one."

Co-creator Vince Gilligan didn't rule out them featuring in another season though, adding at the Television Critics' Association event: "The short answer is: The sky is the limit and any of these characters could conceivably show up in future seasons.

"But the intention is it will feel proper and organic, because if it feels like a stunt then something has gone terribly wrong in the writers’ room.

"To be completely honest, I want to see them all eventually."

Better Call Saul premieres on AMC on 8 February, 2015, and will follow sometime after on Netflix.
