First Game of Thrones season 6 teaser trailer: What did we learn?

We're going to be seeing a lot more of Bran this season.

Following up on the spoilerific poster it released a couple of weeks back, HBO gifted us a first teaser for Game of Thrones season 6 last night.

Sadly it contains no new footage, but there are a couple of things to get excited about.

First off, it marks the first time we have heard Star Wars’ Max von Sydow in the show, who is taking over as the Three-Eyed Raven.

“We watch. We listen. And we remember,” he is heard telling (presumably) Bran. “The past is already written. The ink is dry.”

Given von Sydow is a pretty big name, we can expect to see a lot of this returning character next season.

Then there’s the shot of Jon Snow back in his actually alive days, followed by a montage of the show’s goriest moments.

This seems to suggest some sort of impending redemption for Red Weddings past, and judging by previous spoilers it does look like Jon will be making sure the good name of Stark is respected around Westerns once more.

Finally we have Bran saying “They have no idea what’s going to happen.”

This could be a hint that he will be involved in Jon’s resurrection, though he’s perhaps a little too far from the Wall.

Personally I think HBO chose this quote to counteract all the spoilers that have leaked from the set - a reminder that, for all the blurry filming photos and subsequent fan theories - the season still has plenty of surprises in store.

Game of Thrones season 6 arrives on HBO and Sky Atlantic in April, probably on the 24th.
