Game of Thrones season 6 is so popular it's affecting Pornhub’s traffic

The world was completely wrapped by more artistic, HBO nudity on Sunday night.

Pornhub saw a 4% decrease in visitors during the hour Game of Thrones season 6 premiered on Saturday night - no small amount given it gets over 60 million of them daily.

New data published by the site demonstrates just how all-consuming the show is, the first episode having drawn in millions of viewers on HBO and Sky Atlantic and millions more through piracy.

Here’s the traffic chart for Sunday night, adjusted for time-zones across the U.S. to illustrate traffic in the hours before and after the episode aired:

Presumably when the show is off air, Pornhub receives numerous searches related to Game of Thrones, the most popular terms used in conjunction with it being ‘sex scene’ and ‘parody’.

The show is known for its nudity, and it seems people hope to track down these scenes on the site too, searching terms like ‘Walk of Shame’ - the one where Cersei walked naked through King’s Landing.

Actress Lena Headey famously used a body double for the scene (complete with dodgy CGI), a decision which she defended last week.

"Some people thought I was less of an actress because I didn’t get my t*ts out,” she told EW. You know what?…Things really affect me. And the thought of being naked for three days and trying to contain her in the way she would be I think I would feel very angry. I didn’t want to be angry. I don’t think Cersei would be angry.”

The second episode of Game of Thrones season 6, ‘Home’, airs in the same slot next Sunday.
