George Hamilton has quit I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! after more than two weeks in the jungle, ITV confirmed.

The Hollywood star's departure comes just days before the final of the ITV1 show and comes after viewers saw him questioning whether he should continue.

During last night's edition of the show, the actor - who had not taken part in any Bushtucker Trials - was seen receiving a phone call from his girlfriend, and he then confided in cleaner Kim Woodburn, with whom he has developed a close friendship in camp, that he was considering leaving.

He said: "Here's the thing, I'm going to tell you what I'm thinking... they're people who are starting careers. I'm at a point where this is fun to do. I'm not going to go head to head, so I'm thinking about leaving, pulling out tomorrow."

Kim asked him to reconsider, but he seemed determined.

"It's about me saying I'm not helping this camp except in morale, I'm not doing anything. So if I take that attitude then it's best I left."

He added: "I can help the odds if I step out. At my age, the time I have with people I care about is important."

The 70-year-old is the third contestant to quit the reality TV series this year. Dancer Camilla Dallerup and Katie Price - aka glamour girl Jordan - have already walked out of the show.
