I'm a Celebrity 2013: Joey Essex and Matthew Wright to face first bush tucker trial
The two celebrities will be challenged to eat pig's brain
Joey Essex will face Matthew Wright in the first bush tucker trial of I’m a Celebrity 2013.
The TOWIE star and TV presenter were both voted by the public to face the ‘Monday Night Takeaway’.
Wright was voted after he appeared distressed by the first challenge the celebrities faced in the jungle, where he had snakes poured over his body while contained in a box.
The challenge proved too much for the former tabloid hack and ‘Wright Stuff’ presenter, who was pushed to tears by the trial.
Joey Essex did not take well to Sunday night’s first trial either, shouting as he was moved into his plastic body box: “I’m so claustrophobic it’s a joke, oh mate! Oh mate!”
Alfonso Ribeiro, aka Carlton from Fresh Prince of Bel Air, was also overwhelmed by the first trial, crying after being subjected to scorpions crawling over his body.
The first episode of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here 2013 saw the celebrities divided into two yellow and red camps.
The red group's Joey Essex and Steve Davis parachuted out of a plane onto a beach, where they followed an obstacle course to find and choose between two celebrities.
The two Essex-born men were particularly taken by Miss Universe model Amy Willerton, who Davis deemed “would be fit in every sense of the word”, and chose her to join their team over Wright.
Joey Essex later admitted he was pleased to have Willerton on the red team because “she’s a proper sort”.
Rebecca Adlington and EastEnders’ Laila Morse were also chosen for the red team. Morse promised viewers she would “give it large now and again” like her on-screen character Big Mo, and added that she didn’t mind “eating testicles and penises, as long as it ain’t hard”.
On the yellow team, Emmerdale’s Lucy Pargeter and Ribeiro chose Royal fashion designer David Emanuel, who turned up in the jungle top-to-toe in a white linen suit; Matthew Wright and Westlife’s Kian Egan.
I’m a Celebrity continues tomorrow, Monday 18 November, on ITV1.
