Iron Fist may have been Netflix's least popular TV series critically but the negative reviews didn't stop it from becoming the streaming service's most binge-watched drama premiere.

The Marvel TV series debuted on 17 March and, according to data from research firm 7Park Data, the percentage of people watching episodes three or higher was above the binge score an average hour-long episode of television would usually receive.

In addition to this, Iron Fist - which stars Finn Jones as superhero Danny Rand - received the highest percentage of any series premiere the firm has measured, including Orange Is the New Black, Stranger Things and other Marvel shows Daredevil and Luke Cage.

7Park Data's senior analyst Christopher shed some light on the findings: “Consider the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and the long list of shows with top audience numbers but few Golden Globes or Emmy’s to show for it. The actual streams data tells us that what critics consider the best shows and what streaming viewers consider the best are sometimes two very different things. Marvel’s Iron Fist is a case in point.”

Iron Fist was the first Marvel TV series to receive critical scorn (you can read our review here).
