James Corden continues US domination with Drop the Mic spin-off

James Corden's plan to steadily take over American television screens seems to be working swimmingly.

The British host/comedian now has a third US series under his belt buckle; TBS now announcing it's green-lit series Drop The Mic (via A.V. Club), a spin-off of the celebrity rap battle segment from Corden's The Late Late Show.

Produced by Corden and The Late Late Show producer Ben Winston, alongside rap battle expert Jensen Karp, the series will exist as a half hour evolution of the skit, where Corden's guests would slam each other and their host with lovingly brutal takedowns through the art of hip-hop.

This forms the second Late Late Show segment to receive a spin-off, following the even more rabidly popular Carpool Karaoke, which was recently acquired by Apple Music.

Past installments have included the likes of Cara Delevingne, Dave Franco, David Schwimmer, Rebel Wilson, and Anne Hathaway; though it looks as if Corden himself will be too busy to host the show.

"James Corden and Ben Winston have struck a nerve with their celebrity-driven, music-infused, incredibly fun content," Michael Bloom, TBS’s Senior Vice-President for unscripted programming stated. "This series embodies the kind of unique and surprising programming we are looking for as we reinvent our approach to this genre within the new TBS brand."

While we wait, Britney Spears has been tipped as the next guest on Corden's Carpool Karaoke - immediately ensuring a riotous good time.
