JK Rowling says Harry Potter TV series will happen right after ‘Potter On Ice’
No wizarding Netflix originals any time soon
JK Rowling has shot down the possibility of a Harry Potter-based TV show, hinting that there’s already enough spin-offs in the works.
“So like... We had seven books and 8 movies. We are getting a play and 3 spin-off movies. Where is our TV Show,” a follower asked, perhaps a little sarcastically, on Twitter.
“Right after the opera, Potter-on-ice and the interpretative dance version of Beedle the Bard #NotActuallyHappening” Rowling replied.
It’s not hard to imagine some kind of expanding of the franchise into TV further down the line though, with the books being harvested for every last penny.
There are now Wizarding World of Harry Potter sections at a number of Universal theme parks, and the Potter-based Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Watford remains incredibly popular.
A Harry Potter prequel of sorts, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will hit cinemas next year, starring Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, the wizard author of the titular book.
Last week, it emerged that Colin Farrell will also appear in the film.
