Lip syncing to your favourite song has become somewhat of an overnight sensation. Not only has Dubsmash taken control of Twitter feeds the world over, but now the TV show Lip Sync Battle is set to conquer the UK’s airwaves.

Eight half-hour episodes of the hit US show will premier in early 2016, and will be brought to you by that forgotten channel: Channel 5.

In the US version, created by the TV station Spike, two celebrities go head-to-head in a – you guessed it – lip sync battle, with the audience choosing the winner.

Yes, this is a real show, and yes, real celebrities including Justin Bieber, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Anne Hathaway and Alison Brie, have competed previously.

Ben Frow, Channel 5's director of programmes, said: "There is a great buzz around Lip Sync Battle - it's one of the most talked-about and fought-over formats in the world of TV right now.”

“[We] look forward to bringing entertainment back to the heart of Channel 5 primetime."

Presenters and guests of the show have yet to be announced.
