Model Paula Hamilton was greeted by a chorus of boos as she became the first housemate to be evicted from Celebrity Big Brother.

But the 51-year-old, who wore sunglasses for the night-time eviction, responded by giving the crowd a thumbs up and telling them "thank you, good on you!"

When she was questioned about the hostile welcome to life outside the Celebrity Big Brother house, she replied: "People have their opinions."

She said she thought the programme was "fantastic", and revealed she was a big fan of former footballer Neil Ruddock.

"I think I'd like Razor to win," she said. "He's just such a gent, and he's gorgeous and he's funny and he reminds me of Baloo from the Jungle (Book)."

She said she wanted jockey Frankie Dettori to be evicted next.

Dettori and reality TV couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were the contestants saved by the public vote tonight.

The jockey gave this message to the watching TV audience: "Keep voting for me, I'm having a great time. Thank you."

Meanwhile the US couple were rewarded by being set a secret mission, in which they were told to convince their housemates that they were walking out on the show because they were angry at being nominated for eviction.

If successful they were to leave the main area of the house, but go to the basement - which would be "pimped up" - and stay there for 24 hours, during which time they could influence events in the house.

They will also be immune from the second eviction, which takes place on Friday.
