Parks & Recreation renewed for season 7, internet rejoices
But there is no word on whether it will be the final season
NBC has all but confirmed Parks & Recreation season 7, with Leslie Knope and her bumbling colleagues set to return in 2014/2015, though an air date has yet to be confirmed.
"I'm going to go out on a limb: Parks & Rec is going to have a seventh season," the network's president Robert Greenblatt said, and given the popularity of the show it's unlikely he'll have to go back on this promise.
No further details of the recommission were given, nor was there any indication whether these next 13+ episodes will be the last as many have speculated.
The news was welcomed by fans, with one writing on Twitter: "Best news I've heard all day!" as another added: "I just won $10,000 on a scratch- off ticket but I chucked it in the garbage after reading this story."
Greenblatt wasn't willing to 'go out on a limb' when it came to another popular NBC show Community, though he did say that the network was pleased with its performance and that it being brought back for a new season was a strong possibility.
Parks & Rec star Amy Poehler has signed a three-year deal with NBC, which will include a new pilot called "Old Soul" she is writing that is set to star Natasha Lyonne as a young woman trying to find her place in the world while working as an aide to the elderly.
