Piers Morgan's Killer Women: The heartbreaking moment a father learns that his daughter has killed their family
Terry Caffey learned that his teenage daughter Erin Caffey was behind the brutal murders while recovering from gunshot wounds in hospital
The reaction of a father who learned that his teenage daughter was responsible for the brutal murder of his entire family is one of utter horror.
Terry Caffey, a preacher from Texas, was the only survivor of the bloody attack planned by his daughter Erin, which killed his wife and two brothers.
He was recovering from shot wounds in hospital when police came to give him the news that Erin’s “involvement was great” in the crime, which was carried out by her boyfriend and his best friend.
The audio recording is one of the most chilling moments in Killer Women, Piers Morgan’s ITV documentary.
The first instalment of the two-part programme, which aired on Wednesday evening, followed the story of Erin Caffey, who has spent the last decade behind bars.
Ms Caffey was 16 when she plotted to kill her entire family in 2008. Her boyfriend and his accomplice carried out the deed at 3am with guns and swords as she waited outside in a car.
The house was then burned down as Mr Caffey crawled to safety, after being shot five times and having watched his wife Penny being shot and stabbed.
“I guess the first thing I want to know is how my daughter is. They won’t tell me a whole lot and they won’t let me watch the news,” Mr Caffey asks Chief Deputy Sheriff Karl Fischer in the exchange, which was recorded by the police.
“She is, she’s doing fine,” replies Deputy Fischer.

At this point, Mr Caffey emits a blood-curding howl.
Ms Caffey, who sang Amazing Grace during an interview with Mr Morgan, allegedly masterminded the plot to kill her family when they told her to break up with her boyfriend, Charlie Wilkinson.
The documentary has been called “murder porn” by some critics, while others criticised its stereotypical viewpoints on women.
