WARNING: Spoilers for season 1 of Netflix's Stranger Things*

Though Netflix is yet to officially confirm whether a second season of its gargantuan hit, Stranger Things, is actually going ahead; its chief executive has at least stated the obvious, that pursuing new episodes would be "dumb not to do".

Its creators, The Duffer Brothers, certainly seem keen on the idea; acknowledging that there have been enough narrative strands left open for it to be, "not a second season as much as a sequel”.

Certainly, there are plenty more questions about The Upside Down to be answered, and the impact of events in Hawkins to be fully faced; yet there probably exists a large portion of fans desperate to have one particular query settled: is Barb really dead?

Unfortunately, it looks as if she's definitely as deceased as we last saw her in The Upside Down; though The Duffer Brothers want to ensure Barb fans she won't be forgotten in any forthcoming season 2.

"We’ll make sure there’s some justice for Barb," Matt Duffer revealed to IGN. "People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn’t seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We’re just not spending any screen time on it."

"It’s not like her parents are like ‘Oh Barb left. She died!’ Season One actually takes place over the course of six or seven days – it’s a really short period of time. So part of what we want to do with hypothetical Season 2 is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened."

However, the duo revealed one death that may not be so conclusive belongs to the show's villain, Brenner; though visibly attacked by the monster, he wasn't actually shown kicking the bucket, thus leaving the door open for a future reappearance.

"I would say that if we were going to kill Brenner," Matt added. "As an audience member watching the show, if that was his death, that would be very unsatisfying to me – when the monster jumps on him and we cut away. He would deserve much more than that as an ending. So yes, there’s a possibility of seeing him again.”

And is the fate of Eleven so concrete at all, either? Well, that's a revelation that will just have to wait.
