Scott Mills has become the fifth celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing after a Halloween special of the hit BBC competition.

The Radio 1 DJ found himself in the dance-off with TV presenter Alison Hammond and their dance partners, Joanne Clifton and Alijaz Scorjanec.

Scott and Joanne performed their Foxtrot to "The Addams Family Theme", while Alison and Alijaz chose Kate Bush’s "Wuthering Heights" as the soundtrack to their American Smooth.

Judges Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood all voted to send home Scott, despite Bruno praising him for “turning up the fun factor”.

“I would like to save the couple that threw the kitchen sink at the routine, extra turns and all sorts of wafting. That is Alison and Alijaz,” said Craig, while Darcey also admired the couple’s “added flourishes”.

But head judge Len Goodman did not agree and said that, had the decision been left in his hands, he would have saved Scott, who described the show as “the most fun [he’d] ever had”.

“It’s something that I never thought I would do and I’m so glad that I said yes to it,” he said.

“It doesn’t really end for me here because I’ll still see [Joanne]. We’ve become friends so it’s really sweet.”

Joanne thanked Scott for making her first Strictly experience “so special”. “He’s the best partner I could have asked for,” she said. “We’ve had to much fun and I’m just so proud of him.

“He’s come from absolutely nowhere and I think loads of people at home can relate to him - he’s got two left feet - but coming out in front of everybody and just performing in front of millions of people each week, I’m so proud of him.”

Annie Lennox performed "I Put A Spell On You" during the results show, while the professional dancers took to the floor for an energetic barn dance.

Strictly returns next Saturday 8 November at 6.30pm before another contestant is voted off on Sunday 9 November at 7.45pm.
