Strictly Come Dancing 2015 has come to an end, with Aliona Vilani and Jay McGuiness lifting the glitterball trophy.

Vilani, who has won the competition once before when paired with McFly’s Harry Judd in 2011, has announced she is quitting the show.

Writing on Twitter, the professional dancer wrote: “Going into this Strictly Come Dancing Series 13, I decided that no matter what would happen, it will be my last one.

“After seven years on Strictly Come Dancing, as my finale, this has been my best Strictly experience ever by a long way!”

The 31-year-old will still be appearing on the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour, set to take place early next year.

Over her seven-year tenure on the BBC show, Vilani has danced with partners including Rav Wilding, Matt Baker, Tony Jacklin and Gregg Wallace.

Notable moments in her Strictly career include having to pull out of the 2013 competition after fracturing her ankle while practicing with partner Johnny Ball.

According to the BBC, dancers are contracted in per series of the show, and can therefore leave once a series finishes.

Ola Jordan, another professional dancer on the show, quit earlier this year. However, in her Twitter tirade she accused the judges of “over-marking and under-marking” contestants leading many to believe the show is a fix.
