Channel 4 may have just announced an ‘urgent safety review’ of The Jump but it hasn’t come soon enough for Mark-Francis Vandelli who has become the latest celebrity to pull out of the show.

The Made in Chelsea star reportedly broke his ankle after falling over during the Snow Cross challenge. He received medical attention almost immediately but won’t be able to continue on the show.

“Whilst racing during the show on Sunday evening, Mark-Francis fell, injuring his ankle,” a Channel 4 spokesperson told The Independent. “He received immediate medical attention but sadly will not be able to continue in the competition due to an ankle fracture which has now been treated.”

He has become the fifth contestant in just two weeks to injury themselves, following in the footsteps of Lineford Christie, Beth Tweddle, Rebecca Adlington and Tina Hobley.

Brian McFadden sparked rumours Vandelli would be leaving the show when he posted a now-deleted photo of the MIC star is hospital to Instagram, captioned: “Even post surgery MarkVandelli looks like a Versace model!!!”

During last Sunday night’s show, Eastenders actor Sid Owen also badly injured himself after tumbling during the Snow Cross challenge.

Host Davinia McCall had to comfort viewers by saying the actor was fine: “Sid is absolutely fine. He is getting checked out by the physio. He is fine.”

This latest accident will no doubt lead to more viewers calling for the show to be cancelled, with many having previously Tweeted at Channel 4 asking them to stop this nonsense.

The broadcaster had previously issued a statement about the show’s safety, saying: "All events are planned with thorough health and safety procedures in place and the competitors safety is always of the upmost importance.
