Caroline Flack will be joined by comic Matt Richardson on the new series of the X Factor spin-off The Xtra Factor after Olly Murs quit the show to concentrate on his chart career.

The 21-year-old said he was "excited" to be joining the show.

He said: "Working with Caroline and the rest of the team will be an incredible experience and I will do my best to be as good as I possibly can, because I'm never going to be as gorgeous as Olly Murs."

Flack, who has presented two previous series of the show which goes behind the scenes at the hit ITV talent search, said: "Of course I'm going to miss Olly every day, but I am very proud that his music is doing so well all around the world.

"I really feel that Matt will bring something completely different to the show. He's a real find, he makes me laugh and it's great to introduce new talent. I can't wait to get started."

TV bosses confirmed earlier this month that Sharon Osbourne will return to the judging panel to replace Tulisa Contostavlos.

She will join Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger - who have all signed up - on the series when it comes to back to screens later this year.
