"Totally hilarious, mood boosting, and great tunes. When is the next season going to start?"

Anna Kainberge

"I don't see the appeal of it at all. Probably because I'm over the age of six. Next on The Independent's "Culture" Club: Do you like Pokémon?"

Phil Thompson

"Socially awkward yet strangely cocksure, Timberlake doppelganger Mr Schue's misfit Glee club treated viewers to a magical mystery tour of music's modern masterpieces. I liked how the show's seminal run subliminally promoted equality and fraternity, and also managed to sell records with a tie-in-to-downloads technique last deployed by Miley Cyrus, aka Hannah Montana. Glee might not be a cult highbrow hit à la The Wire, but I found the cast's glittery brand of visual and aural euphoria contagiously gleeful. I just won't be stacking the soon to be released Season 1 DVD alongside my Mad Men collection."

Hannah Davies

"Total and utter tripe that only the Americans would do with a straight face."

Daniel Bamsey

"For the record it's not an E4 Musical Drama. It's made by Fox (Sky's evil twin in America). British television wouldn't make something with that level of production values and script writing. I don't even like Glee, but I know that it's good... Since we can buy lots of shows from the US, it would be great if Britain focused on quality not quantity for domestic programming."

Martin Bentley

"I am old enough to remember Fame, which feels gritty compared to Glee. In the latter, all the adults are so puerile and the plot-lines are preposterous. If you can ignore the failings and skip to the few minutes of singing and dancing, it's quite good fun really. Glad it's finally over, though, as I was finding it such a chore. I shall not be indulging in the next series. The Madonna episode was the best for me as it was full to bursting with musicality."

Colin-Roy Hunter

"It's pretty cool to have a series set in Ohio (where I live); however, I never watched the show because it was on during my Lost evening."

Becky Teynor Woods

"It's very positive. I like it, bringing back the cheese of the 80s and 90s. I love it."

Bee Das

"Glee is a guilty pleasure... Yes, I know it's utter rubbish... it's banal in the extreme and the lip-syncing is often of a level so poor, even Cheryl Cole would be embarrassed. That said, with a new series of Britain's Got Talent, and The X Factor warming up for another attempt at the Christmas No 1, and also Big Brother only just getting the message that it's end is six years overdue, there's precious little worth watching anymore... So as much as I liked the relief Glee gave me from Simon Cowell, I can see it stretching a one-series plot-line a bit too far, just like Lost... "

Nick Haywood

"It's good fun, but it became very predictable towards the end of the run."

David Myers

"It was great and at times I was slightly dewy-eyed. I hope the second series will be able to develop the characters more and take the show further. "

Neela Debnath

"I enjoy it, but the songs are truly horrendous!"

Sylvia Tombesi-Watson
