It would seem Liverpool's league form was what caused owners Fenway Sports Group to act, with the club finishing eighth. Dalglish, who took over from Roy Hodgson in January 2011, was allowed to invest heavily in the team, bringing in Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing, Luis Suarez and Jordan Henderson.
