Part animation part documentary, 2012: Time for a change, with musician Sting and Canadian actress Ellen Page, finishes screening in New York and Portland Oregan on July 8 before going on general release.

A new part animated documentary entitled 2012: Time for a Change, addresses the issue of climate change in an optimistic manner that looks to traditional tribal reverence of nature and modern science as a solution.  The film, which includes musician and activist Sting, and Canadian actress Ellen Page of Juno fame, hypothesizes that a change in human evolution could put us back in tune with nature and lead to us taking a role as protectors of nature.

The film shares part of its name with 2012, an apocalyptic movie released in November 2009 focusing on alleged doomsday predictions made by the Mayan calendar, which is due to end in 2012.

Directed by Joäo Amorim, 2012 : Time for a change, which has already aired in Seattle, Chicago, Santa Cruz Rio de Janerio and San Francisco holds its last announced showings on 7/8 July in Portland Oregon.

A spokesperson for the film's production company, intention media inc. confirmed a wider US release of the film is planned in the autumn, though no dates have been confirmed for a European release.

British film maker Simon Robson also recently addressed the issue of climate change, assembling 24 international filmmakers to make a short animation advocating collective action against climate change.  The film, entitled ‘Coalition of the willing', was launched on July 30 in London, United Kingdom.
