Bobble hopes to save the planet and quench thirst

The Bobble is a new, reusable, portable water bottle that filters tap water as you drink. The product is created by Move Collective, LLC and designed by Karim Rashid, internationally-renowned industrial designer.

A single Bobble filter equates to at least 300 water bottles, decreasing the environmental impact created by disposable, plastic bottled water. The filter should be replaced every two months or after filtering approximately 150 liters of water.

The Bobble is an eye-catching all-in-one bottle that could replace a beloved Sigg, the Swiss-made, leach-proof water bottles, or the Brita water filtration system. Move Collective, LLC is not the first to think of this combination but the Bobble will be one of the more affordable versions retailing at $9.95 as opposed to Watergeeks ($24), Aquasana ($26) and Metro Eco Bottle ($16.95).

The Bobble will be available on March 1 and can be purchased online at waterbobble.com, however Bobbles will initially only be shipped within the United States. Richard Smiedt, the founder of Move Collective, LLC, told Relaxnews, "our plan is to make water better in all major international markets that throw away millions of water bottles. Bobble will be available in late summer in Europe and Latin America and in Asia in the last quarter of 2010. Our plan is to continue to keep manufacturing locally so as to offer better water."
