Green agenda: Ecocity Summit, Good Design Expo
Friday 19 August 2011
Over the coming weeks environmental issues will be addressed at both the Ecocity World Summit in Montreal and the Good Design Expo in Tokyo. The Ecocity World Summit addresses environmental issues on a large scale, bringing together experts and policy makers from around the world to discuss the future of sustainable urban development. The Good Design Expo takes a smaller-scale but equally important approach to environmental issues, awarding products that "help preserve global resources and protect the environment."
Ecocity World Summit
Palais des congrès de Montréal
Montreal, QC, Canada
A four-day conference exploring the theme of creating eco-cities, the event attracts academics, policy makers, professionals and environmentalists from around the world. In addition to a number of conferences the event also hosts mobile workshops, training courses and film screenings.
Good Design Expo
Tokyo Big Sight
The latest and most cutting-edge designs from around the world will be on display at the Good Design Expo, being held at the Tokyo Big Sight convention center over two days. The expo coincides with decisions on the Good Design Awards 2011, including the Good Design Long Life Award, which honors products that "help preserve global resources and protect the environment."
EcoVelocity EV Show
Battersea Power Station
London is rapidly becoming a leading world city for electric vehicles, installing infrastructure far faster than many of its counterparts. This show will display everything from charging equipment to battery-powered taxis and is set to offer a glimpse into a future in which 'the Big Smoke' may not actually have any emissions at all.
Low Carbon Expo 2011
Cardiff Motorpoint Arena
The organizers behind this eco-friendly event claim that it is the first low carbon exhibition to be held in Wales. The Low Carbon Expo 2011 will showcase energy products and services alongside interactive low-carbon workshops and live demonstrations. Over 100 companies will be exhibiting at the event and around 3,000 visitors are expected to attend. The event is far smaller than the Greenbuild Expo in October, but the Low Carbon expo is in its first year.
