More than 1,000 campaigners attended a rally in the Lake District yesterday to oppose plans to transfer the "birthright" of public forests to the private sector. Protesters met in Grizedale Forest in Cumbria to condemn Government proposals to sell off land as a "disgrace". Save Lakeland's Forests oppose the sale of nearly 40 forests and woods.
