Pick of the best events at World Green Building Week

As part of World Green Building Week which runs from September 20-26, a series of events will be taking place across the world celebrating environmentally friendly architecture and emphasizing the importance of sustainable building.

Here is a roundup of some of the most exciting of these events:

London, United Kingdom
September 20: 9 am  - noon

A networking breakfast followed by a debate and a keynote speech from the Mayor of London Boris Johnson. Tickets cost £40 (excluding VAT) (48€), are allocated on a first come -first served basis and are limited to two per booking.

Toronto, Canada
September 22: 11am -6:30pm

The Festival Plenary involves a networking lunch at which numerous figures from the world of green architecture will be present followed by a series of conferences and a cocktail reception at which the Canadian Green Building Lifetime Achievement Awards will be presented.  Tickets cost C$250/C$275(€185/€204) and include both the lunch and the cocktail reception.

Sydney, Australia
September 22: 6pm-10pm

Government representatives and The Green Building Council of Australia are holding a 'Green tie gala dinner' to which members of the public are invited.  The guest speaker of the evening will be architect James Sherrard who has promoted sustainable building in developing countries around the world. Tickets cost AU$210 (€149) per non member or $AU1890 (€1340) for a non-member table of ten.

Cape Town, South Africa
September 23: 8:30am-5:30pm

The South African Green Building Council will run a day long series of courses and events to teach people about the benefits of green building, how to get into the business or even how to start their own local green building council. Prior confirmation of attendance is required.

25 September - all day
