HOW TO PLAY:

Linkudo is free to play. You will though require Flash Player. For the purposes of using the ‘How to play’ guide please either print this page to refer to, or open Linkudo again in a second window and play the game as you read the instructions.

Press Play (registered players should sign-in first). The object of Linkudo is to connect the subject word in Box 1 to the target word in Box 2. There are multiple ways to connect the two words - the skill is finding the fewest possible links in the shortest possible time.

The subject word in Box 1 is associated with each of the link words currently displayed in the Related, Resident and Rhyming columns. Select and click on the link word from one of these three columns that you think will take you one step nearer to reaching the target word.

Each time a link word is selected it is placed in the left column under Box 1. It then becomes the new subject word and the link words displayed in the Related, Resident and Rhyming columns are replaced with new link words associated with the new subject word. Keep repeating this process and evolve the subject word until the target word is displayed in one of the Related, Resident or Rhyming columns.

When you see the target word displayed in one of these three columns, click on it and the game will end automatically. You will then be taken to the results page where your game stats will be displayed along with your score for that go.

NOTES:

Linkudo leaderboard rankings are based upon the total of a player's best three consecutive scores'. Only Registered Player's scores are ranked. Where two or more players achieve the same three consecutive scores total, leaderboard rankings are determined in the order that the score was achieved.

As long as there are no link words selected you can switch the word in Box 1 with the word in Box 2 by clicking ‘Switch’. You can also remove the previously selected link word by clicking ‘Remove’. If you get completely stuck you can hit the ‘Pass’ button and move onto a new game.

Each time you 'pass' a score of -500 is assigned to that game. For example, if you scored 765, then 540 then you passed the next game, your three consecutive game score total for those three games would be 805 (765+540-500=805).

‘Related’ words are related to the subject word - please note though, a few random words have been included just for good measure! ‘Resident’ words contain the subject word, or are found within the subject word. ‘Rhyming’ words rhyme with the subject word - and are either perfect or non-perfect rhymes. Perfect rhymes appear above the dotted line and non-perfect rhymes appear below the dotted line.

Please note, as so many people have different connection speeds Linkudo uses a 'stop the clock' procedure every time the Related, Resident and Rhyming word lists are refreshed. This means people with faster connection speeds will have no advantage over people with slower connection speeds.

When you have finished playing Linkudo, you do not have to log-out. This includes if another player wants to play Linkudo on your computer after you've finished playing. When they sign-in, it overrides your previous sign-in.

TIPS:

1. The solution will more often than not be found by using a combination of Related, Resident and Rhyming links.

2. At the start of a game, use the ‘Switch’ button to look at the words associated with the word in Box 2.

3. Remember, there is always a route. Just be patient, think laterally and work through the permutations!

REGISTRATION:

The registration process requires you to enter your first name, surname, email address and a password. This information is not divulged to third parties. Registration is free and all registered players' hi-scores, if high enough, will be added to the Linkudo leaderboard. After registering, a username and password reminder is emailed to you, which must be used when signing in.

Good luck and enjoy Linkudo!
