It’s around this time of year that everyone starts toe-tapping a little. Strictly is back on screen and, as a nation, we’re getting starry-eyed gazing at the sequins and secretly fancying ourselves as the next dancing champion (or at the very least burning off some of those Bake Off-linked pounds). There are dance classes all over the country, from ballroom to ballet barre to zumba, so there really has never been a better time to limber up and point those toes. But remember dancing is also about the performance - so lose the baggy sweatpants and look the part.

While legwarmers and luxe accessories are half the fun of a dance class, it all comes down to essentials. A great pair of leggings, like H&M’s good value ones, and a sturdy sports bra (see Bodyism’s stylish range) should be all you need to see you through any style of dance class. And sequins, of course, are strictly optional.
