Fox Hall, West Sussex
Fox Hall, built in 1730, has an elegant Palladian style. Once a meeting place for the 18th century’s fashionable set, today it could be described as Britain’s premier bedsit: an exuberantly decorated sitting room comes complete with a bed in a gilded alcove. There’s also a plainer twin-bedroom.
