From rock god to rocking cradles?

Rolling Stones’ frontman Mick Jagger has become a great-grandfather for the first time, at the age of 70. His granddaughter Assisi Jackson has had a baby girl.

That’s one way to outdo Keith Richards and Ozzy Osbourne…

Assisi is the 21-year-old daughter of Jade Jagger. Sir Mick, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Rolling Stones in 1989 and was knighted for his services to music in 2003, fathered Jade with his first wife, Bianca, in 1971. Incidentally, Jade, 42, is currently heavily pregnant and is expecting to give birth to a boy next month.

Confusing. Any more children I should know about?

Sir Mick has seven children with four women. In 1970, Marsha Hunt gave birth to his daughter Karis. Jade was born the following year. He had four children with his second wife, Jerry Hall: Elizabeth, 30, James, 28, Georgia May, 22, and Gabriel, 16. While he was still married to Hall, air hostess Luciana Gimenez gave birth to a boy, Lucas, in 1999. Sir Mick also has four grandchildren, including Assisi.

What a family tree!

Assisi, who lives in Cornwall with her 25-year-old chef boyfriend Alex Key, has not yet announced the name of her child. But it is unlikely she will be referring to Sir Mick as “great grandpa.” Speaking of the star’s reaction to her pregnancy, Assisi said: “I imagine it’s nice to be a great-granddad – although I’m not sure he likes the idea of getting old, or being called one.” She added: “I call him Mick – I wouldn’t start calling him Grandpa.”

So he’s not planning on hanging up the sparkly jackets and skinny jeans just yet?

The Rolling Stones are currently preparing to perform their first gigs since the death of Sir Mick’s long-term partner, the fashion designer L’Wren Scott.
