Alicia Keys, Black Eyed Peas to perform in World Cup Kick-Off Concert

Black Eyed Peas and Alicia Keys will join a roster of international artists for the FIFA World Cup Kick-Off Celebration Concert, announced FIFA on March 17. More than a dozen acts will take to the stage to usher in the World Cup in South Africa on June 10, the eve of the opening match of the first World Cup on African soil.

Artists set to perform so far include Alicia Keys, Amadou & Mariam, Angélique Kidjo, Black Eyed Peas, BLK JKS, John Legend, Colombian stars Juanes and Shakira, The Parlotones, Tinariwen, Vieux Farka Touré, and Vusi Mahlasela, with additional announcements to follow. The show, to be held at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto/Johannesburg, will also feature appearances by soccer stars past and present and celebrities from other fields, according to the announcement.

Tickets are available beginning March 17 at www.computicket.com or by calling (27) 083 915 8000. Tickets are priced at 450 rand ($62) to 1,150 rand ($158), with net proceeds going to 20 Centres for 2010, whose aim is to build 20 centers in disadvantaged communities across Africa offering education, healthcare services, and soccer training.

The concert will begin at 8:00pm local time (GMT+2) on June 10 and will be broadcast worldwide.
