Weekend's selection: the biggest music awards ceremony of the year in Los Angeles, makeup and beauty professionals gather in London, New Delhi hosts its annual book fair, a museum designed by Ron Arad opens in Israel, among other events.

Thousands of artists, vendors, manufacturers and makeup fans will be on site when the International Makeup Artist Trade Show opens its doors. The looks from movies, musicals and other spectacles will be recreated and some of the most in-demand makeup artists from around the world will compete against each other on stage. The same event is also staged in Los Angeles, Sydney, Toronto, and Vancouver over the course of the year.

Berlin's museum night

For the 26th edition, numerous Berlin museums, collections and exhibition venues keep their doors open until 2 am in the morning. With just one ticket guests can visit around 100 different institutions in one night which are linked by eight bus shuttle routes.

Grammy Awards celebration

On January 31, the Recording Academy will award the best of music at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. Awards are given in 31 fields, including pop, rock, and classical, as well as in four "general" categories: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist. This year's nominees include Beyoncé, The Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Dave Matthews Band, and Taylor Swift, all of whom are set to perform at the event.

Holon Design Museum opens

Built by Ron Arad as the designer's first big architectural project, the newly completed building has already won its first award (the Condé Nast Traveller Innovation and Design Award for Culture), and those involved hope that it will become a new design hub for the country.

New Delhi World Book Fair

India's publishing industry, the third largest for English books after the US and UK, has been featured in recent years as guest of honor at the 2006 Frankfurt Book Fair, Market Focus of the 2009 London Book Fair, and guest country at the 2009 Moscow International Book Fair. The National Book Trust of India has organized the New Delhi World Book Fair since 1972 to integrate the Indian publishing world with the global market. The theme of the 2010 fair, in honor of the Commonwealth Games, is "Reading Our Common Wealth: An International Rights Exhibition of the Books on Sports in India."
