Next week's highlights include the Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles, a major tech fair in Hannover, one of the biggest motor shows in the world in Geneva, Paris Fashion Week and the Armory Arts Week in New York, among other events.

Global Ignite Week

In March innovative speakers and inventive minds will be sharing their ideas and creations during Global Ignite Week. The event is comprised of an unconventional series of conferences held in pubs, theaters and clubs around the world. Speakers at the events showcase new ideas in bite-sized pieces. The community-minded events are run by local event organizers who volunteer their time.

CeBIT 2010

In 2009, 4,300 exhibitors from 69 countries and more than 400,000 visitors made their way to Hannover for CeBIT. 2010's event is expected to be even bigger. Visitors to the world's largest digital IT and telecommunications event will be able to take part in a forum of "international networking, knowledge transfer and trend-setting." CeBIT 2010 highlights will include a new "Next Level 3D" floor space, international demonstrations of green technologies and a new presentation called "Advanced Office & Conference Solutions."

Tokyo Food festival

Asia's largest food and beverage trade show is expecting around 2,300 exhibitors from more than 60 countries, as well as some 85,000 visitors. Now in its 35th years, the event attracts some of the world's biggest food companies and representatives from governments around the world and gives Japan a taste of the world - and vice versa.

Paris Fashion Week

No official word yet on modifications of the schedule due to the recent death of Paris Fashion Week favorite Alexander McQueen, even though it is very likely that the show will not take place and may potentially be replaced by a tribute.

Armory Arts Week

Armory Arts Week is a celebration of contemporary and modern art that takes place in New York City March 4 - 7. In 2010 a wealth of satellite fairs will be held concurrently to The Armory Show including the ADAA Art Show, Dutch Art Now, Fountain New York, Independent Korean Art Show, Pool, Pulse, Red Dot, SCOPE New York, Verge New York and Volta NY. In addition, many New York-based galleries and local arts organizations will host special exhibitions and reduce entrance fees to coincide with the event.

Geneva Motor Show

Geneva hosts over 700,000 visitors in 114,000 square meters of space, and is generally regarded as a must-attend show for worldwide manufacturers. It offers something for everyone - last year the world's cheapest car, the Tata Nano, was on display, as was the world's most expensive, the Aston Martin One-77. Expect unveilings from most brands, particularly the European marques - last year saw 85 unveilings that were streamed live over the internet in a world first.

Oscars: 82nd Academy Awards Ceremony

The leading film award ceremony gets the world's attention on Hollywood for an event filled with culture, fashion, celebrities and humor with the evening's hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. The 2010 Academy Award race is expected to be one of the most wide open in years while the battle for the coveted best picture statuette has been expanded to include 10 nominees.
