Weekend selection: The American Music Awards in the USA, a major Tim Burton exhibition in New York and a Tutankhamun one in Toronto and tennis's ATP World Tour Finals in London, among other events.

Tutankhamun exhibition

Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs in Toronto features 130 pieces from the renowned tomb and ancient sites representing some of the most important rulers throughout 2,000 years of ancient Egyptian history.
One of the main attractions of the show is the largest image of King Tut ever unearthed, a 10-foot statue of the pharaoh retaining much of its original paint.

The Museum of Modern Art in New York will hold a major retrospective of the life and works of American director and artist Tim Burton. The retrospective will include a gallery exhibition and a film exhibition that documents Burton's career and his influential work as a producer, writer, concept artist, photographer and illustrator. For the first time in history, Burton fans will be able to see artwork he made as a student, examples of his nonprofessional films and excerpts from unrealized projects.

One of the major music awards shows in the US, the American Music Awards were created by television producer Dick Clark to compete with the Grammys. But the AMA nominees are based on retail sales and radio airplay, and chosen by the public through online voting. The most popular winners are "Favorites" - not the "Best."
