Newly promoted Watford play away at Chelsea on Boxing Day, midway through a tough run of Christmas fixtures.

Watford, who won automatic promotion last year by finishing second in the Championship behind Bournemouth, travel to Stamford Bridge to face the current league champions. This is the second game of a four-game string of matches that see Watford play Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, and Manchester City in succession.

This could be where Watford begin to struggle to keep up with experienced league survivors, as they play four of last season's top-five finishers in a row.

Other games on Boxing Day see Norwich City - who gained promotion through the Championship play-offs - going toe-to-toe with Tottenham at the White Hart Lane, a week after another away game against Manchester United.

These two challenging games against top-five clubs will put strain on a Norwich side which despite only being away from the Premier League for a year, struggled to qualify for promotion, requiring play-off success in order to do so after a sloppy mid-season slump.

Sunderland travel to the Etihad Stadium to go up against last year's runners-up City. The Black Cats barely avoided relegation from the top flight last year, finishing 16th (only three points above 18th place, with a worse goal difference than them), and this away game will prove a real challenge for Sunderland on the day after Christmas.

Boxing Day fixtures:

Swansea vs West Bromwich Albion

Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur vs Norwich City

Chelsea vs Watford

Aston Villa vs West Ham United

Stoke City vs Manchester United

Liverpool vs Leicester City

Manchester City vs Sunderland

Newcastle United vs Everton

Southampton vs Arsenal
