Sesame Street's 40th anniversary celebration continues with DVD and exhibit

The popular children's show, Sesame Street, which originated in the USA 40 years ago, is the subject of a special DVD of highlights and an exhibition in New York

Sesame Street 40 Years of Sunny Days
A 2-disc DVD with five hours of popular segments from the groundbreaking children's TV show including Elmo's first appearance, was released this month for the 40th anniversary of this favorite children's show. It features celebrity guests, including Robert de Niro, Adam Sandler, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Hugh Jackman interacting with Bert and Ernie, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and Oscar the Grouch.

The educational and entertainment program has earned more than 100 Emmy Awards and international versions are produced in 120 countries.

Sesame Street also celebrates its birthday with an exhibition at the Brooklyn Library featuring memorabilia, original art, photos, show props, creator Jim Henson's puppets. Events include discussions, performances from the show, and photo opportunities for kids.
