Sandra Bullock picked up two awards - one for favorite comedy movie, The Proposal, and for favorite movie actress. Hugh Jackman won for favorite action star and Jim Carrey for favorite comedy star. Ashton Kutcher won for favorite web celeb.

Twilight star Taylor Lautner took the award for breakout star and Twilight won for favorite movie.

Johnny Depp was presented with the People's Choice Award for Actor of the Decade, to which he responded: "I'm extremely humbled."

Carrie Underwood won for favorite country music artist, Taylor Swift was selected as favorite female artist and Lady Gaga won favorite pop artist. Other artists chosen included Eminem and Mariah Carey.

The mainstream choices meant there were few surprises during the presentations except for Ellen Degeneres who beat Oprah for the category of favorite talk show. "Oprah, I love you and I'm sorry to hear your show got canceled," Degeneres joked about Oprah wrapping up her television show next year to work on her own television network.
