Two pictures that show just how big the women's march was

On 21 January, hundreds of thousands of Women marched in Washington, joining millions around the world in protesting for women's rights on the first day of Donald Trump's presidency.

It is thought that the turnout for the Washington march, one of almost 700 globally, was around half a million.

EarthCam live feeds, as compared by users on Reddit and Imgur, showed more widespread and dispersed crowds during snapshots of the Washington Women's March, than during the Trump inauguration - although these are only snapshots of a less organised event.

Trump's inauguration crowds are currently a sore point for the administration, having failed to produce anywhere near the same numbers as President Obama's.

Indeed White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer issued an incorrect statement which misled the public:

This was the largest audience to ever witness the inauguration, period, both in person and around the globe.

This has been easily disputed with figures from Washington DC's public transportation system, and by quotes from United States Secret Service personnel.

People are now also contrasting photos of the attendance of the inauguration and the Women's March.

Users commented that the turnout compared favourably to the Trump Inauguration.
