Pregnant mum of triplets shows off bump

A mother of newborn triplets is being applauded for sharing refreshingly “real” photos of her post-baby body on Instagram.

Maria Nordø Jørstad, from Copenhagen, Denmark, gave birth by Caesarean section on September 12 to triplets Iben, Filip, and Agnes.

Following the birth of the “spontaneous” triplets - the term given to triplets conceived without the aid of fertility drugs - the mum posted a candid photo of her body one week post-pregnancy, and another after four weeks.

In her latest unfiltered update to her more than 235,000 followers, the 33-year-old mum wrote: “I still have a weird looking hanging belly, and I am a bit surprised it has not gotten smaller since my last picture three weeks ago.

“Kind of disappointing I must admit, and I am not too happy to share this picture,” she continued, before informing her followers that “on the positive side” her c-section scar doesn’t hurt anymore.

“And in the last two days I’ve almost felt like myself again,” the mother-of-four wrote. “Except for this heavy sagging belly that is.”

The mum previously told her followers that, while pregnant with the triplets, her stomach weighed 20kg.

Since sharing her most recent progress photo, which was liked more than 24,000 times, Jørstad has received an outpouring of support from her followers - who have praised the mum for her honesty and authenticity.

“You are INCREDIBLE! It’s amazing what the human body can do. Nothing but respect for you,” one person wrote.

Another said: “You are amazing! And your body is amazing and beautiful and I send so much respect and love your way mama!”

Others have assured Jørstad, who also has a two-year-old son, that her belly will go down eventually.

“You may not see the difference between pictures, but I definitely do!” someone wrote. “You look amazing! What an awesome job you did bringing three babies into this world. Your body handled it like a champ!”

According to the mum, who shared progress pictures throughout her pregnancy, the reason for the remaining “hanging” belly is because her uterus has not yet shrunk after stretching to accommodate the three babies.

As for the triplets, all three are now feeding without feeding tubes after they were born a month early - which is common when giving birth to twins or more, according to the NHS.
