In which painting by which painter can you find this patch of gold?

Details 342 came from the Allegory of Grammar by Laurent La Hyre (1650) The scroll says, "A literate and articulate tongue, spoken in the required manner". The picture is in the National Gallery in London.

The first three correct entries came from Mrs H Stansbie of Whitton, Twickenham; Martin Horler of Kilmersdon, Somerset and Mr Ken Benyon of Carmarthenshire, Wales. Each will receive a bottle of champagne, as will this week's winners. Answers, on a postcard (to arrive by Wed 23 July, please), to: DETAILS 344, Independent on Sunday, 1 Canada Square, London E14 5DL.
