Demand for Weiner doll crashes retailer's website

US congressman Anthony Weiner has become the latest controversial public figure to have his likeness made into a doll; demand for the product is so high that it has apparently disrupted the retailer's website.
Democrat congressman Anthony Weiner has recently been the center of a scandal after sending sexually suggestive images of himself to female followers on Twitter.
A doll version of the politician, whose messaging scandal has been covered extensively in the media, has been released by Herobuilders. Two versions are available: the standard 'action figure' for $39.95 and an anatomically correct 'adults only' version for $49.95.
Both versions are dressed in a T-shirt and shorts which have the message 'Tweet This' emblazoned on them.
The doll was launched shortly after the scandal broke but on June 15 both technology blog Mashable and news outlet Forbes are reporting that demand for the doll has made the retailer's website almost inaccessible during daylight hours in North America. Shoppers trying to obtain the doll are apparently greeted with a 'service unavailable' message.
However the website was accessible without any issues during European working hours on June 15.
Recently the likeness of former Two and a Half Men actor Charlie Sheen inspired a doll, albeit of a different kind. Called 'Crackhead Charlie,' the sex doll reportedly sold out in just one day.
Other celebrity dolls, including those of US Presidents Obama and George Bush are available to buy online at Amazon.com and other retailers.
