Dirty Dogs Campaign: This foul mess: What can be done? Wanted: a solution that can work

Today the Independent on Sunday is starting a Dirty Dogs Campaign. We want to hear your views on this national problem and what you think might be done about it. The present laws are not working: could there be better ones? We want to begin by compiling a nationwide picture of the problem: because every area has its own by-laws, national statistics are hard to come by. Write to us and tell us about your local area: what is the condition of your local parks and pavements? If possible, we would like to know what - if anything - your local authority is doing about it.

In addition to this, we'd like to hear your views on possible, practical solutions. It is said that this problem can't be dealt with effectively because the law is unenforceable. What do you think? Please write to Dirty Dogs Campaign, the Independent on Sunday, 40, City Road, London EC1Y 2DB
