Fashion week will soon be upon us. While this news might not be that interesting for everyone, this season’s runways have turned out a host of styles that will make it even easier to stay on trend and look good effortlessly.
One of our favourite looks is soft tailoring. It’s versatile, easy to wear, and the best news? It’s a completely fuss-free way to stay on trend. No ironing, no pressing, the more rumpled, crumpled and distressed the better. Key to the soft tailoring trend are linen and cotton. While linen is notoriously difficult to keep crease free, this trend means that’s not a problem, just pick your trousers straight up off the floor and team with your favourite jacket for perfect effortless smart casual.
Another fuss-free trend to hit the runways was the humble jacket, so often overlooked, the men’s jacket has been fully reworked and re-imagined. One of our favourite wardrobe staples, the jacket, is an easy way to pull a look together or transform an otherwise lacklustre outfit. Leather jackets are, as always, on trend but this season, suede jackets have made a big appearance too. A softer alternative to leather, they’re great for spring summer wear and just like leather jackets, go with just about anything.
Finally, casual sports wear will be a big trend in spring summer and like soft tailoring, it’s very easy to pull off. Forget any ideas you might have about track suits or looking like you’ve just stumbled off a football pitch – it’s not quite that effortless. 2012’s sportswear is an eclectic reflection on the past, taking in cricket sweaters, linen jackets, shorts and shirts, it’s a real mish mash of styles and sporting influences from the past which makes it easy to throw together and easy to pull off. Try teaming an old cardigan with shorts and deck shoes and pull the look together with your favourite tweed jacket.
