The Annenberg Space for Photography's new display will explore the myths and legends as well as the perils of beauty and its industry. Documenting the evolution of the definition of beauty throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, the exhibition will feature 170 photographs and more than 500 digital images by renowned photographers including Herb Ritts and Man Ray and the contemporary David LaChapelle, Ellen von Unwerth, and Terry Richardson.
39th Fifi Awards
New York, USA
The Oscars of the fragrance world have been given to the most creative noses in the industry for the past 39 years and the ceremony is attended by more than 1,000 members of the international fragrance community. The awards are presented by celebrities from the worlds of fashion, theater, film and TV. Armani's Acqua di Gioia, Chanel's Chance Eau Tendre, Gucci Guilty, Pure DKNY, and Voyage d'Hermès are all in the running for the grand prize.
Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie is responsible for Avon's most successful fragrance launch ever and will get recognized for it during the ceremony. Honoring "a celebrity whose very first fragrance has enjoyed instant success with the consumer and brought recognition to the fragrance category," the US Fragrance Foundation has decided to give this year's New Fragrance Celebrity of the Year Award to the singer, who launched Outspoken - a tuberose fragrance - last year.
The overall Fragrance Celebrity of the Year award, however, will go to actress Halle Berry who ventured into perfume two years ago with her woody oriental signature scent Halle by Halle Berry. The more floral Pure Orchid and the fresh and light Reveal followed in 2010.
35th Hair Expo Australia
The largest hairdressing event in the southern hemisphere, the Hair Expo showcases all the latest developments in cutting, coloring and extensions, as well as tanning and nail products. The best coiffeurs of Australia and New Zealand will be honored at the close of the three-day industry event at the Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards.
