The annual awards ceremony took place last night at London's Coliseum celebrating the brightest and best in the world of British fashion.

With the guestlist reading like a who's who of the fashion world

At an event all about fashion you'd naturally expect the style stakes to be pretty high and whilst some rose to the challenge, others unfortunately missed the mark.

British fashion - specifically its bi-annual London Fashion Week is known for being the more creative partner of the global fashion presentations, but the BFA red carpet told a different story with many of the attendees playing it safe in unremarkable black tie attire.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley chose a glittering Burberry Prorsum gown complete with plunging neckline. Even Lady Gaga opted for a sleek red gown by Tom Ford, a million miles from her meat dress days.

Victoria and David Beckham returned to their 'his and hers' dressing days but there was not a leather jacket in sight, instead far chicer matching black tuxedo looks.

Last to arrive was the winner of this year's outstanding achievement award - Karl Lagerfeld who arrived with Anna Wintour, naturally.
