The Oscars' red carpet is all about the array of designer gowns that parade at the ceremony arrival, but men from the entertainment industry also attended the Academy Awards in their best black tie attire.

One outfit that had everyone talking on social media was Chris Rock's all-white tuxedo, which he was sporting as he addressed the #OscarSoWhite controversy, named the Awards the "White People's Choice Awards" and called Hollywood "racist" during his diversity-focused opening monologue.

American rapper Common joined him in a crisp white Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo.

But besides Common and Rock, male attendees and nominees arrived in velvet, satin and traditional black tuxedos from luxury fashion houses, including Tom Ford and Armani.

The most anticipated winner of the evening for Best Actor, Leonardo DiCaprio, attended in a classic black tuxedo from Armani, Michael Fassbender in Tom Ford and Sacha Baron Cohen in Dolce & Gabbana.

Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele lead the red carpet dressing Tom Hardy, Ryan Gosling, actress Brie Larson and Jared Leto - who attended the ceremony with the designer in a black-and-red tuxedo, teamed up with a bold flower tie.

This year the Oscars' red carpet was disappointing for many, especially for those in the know of fashion, but with menswear becoming so predominant in the industry, what male actors and stars wore on the red carpet got, became the highlight of the evening.
