A male make-up artist has expertly silenced a conservative blogger who suggested men who wear make-up do so as the result of lacking good fathers.

Last week, Matt Walsh, a conservative Christian blogger, penned an article titled “Dads, we can’t expect our sons to become real men if we don’t teach them how”.

In the article, he argued that the casting of Manny Gutierrez – a prominent YouTuber with over two million subscribers and three million Instagram followers – as a new face of Maybelline cosmetics was further proof that “boys needs Dads” and called on fathers “to show our sons what true masculinity looks and acts like”.

On Sunday, Gutierrez replied to Mr Walsh’s tweet where he said “Dads, this is why you need to be there to raise your sons” by correcting him on his assumption about his father.

“My dad actually works for me and is SO proud of me,” he wrote in a tweet which has since ben liked over 200,000 times.

He followed up with a screngrab of a text message from his father which directly addressed Mr Walsh: “Let me first begin by telling you that I’ve always been there for my son and will ALWAYS be there for him. Not only am I proud of what he has accomplished but I’m more proud of the person he has become.

“I know the words you speak are from lack of knowing anybody from the LGBT community. If you did, you would soon realise they are some of the most real and kind-hearted individuals that walk this planet of ours.”

Gutierrez' coveted deal with Maybelline was announced last week; he is the first male make-up to model for the brand. His appointment comes after James Charles was announced as Covergirl cosmetics first ever ‘cover boy’ in October last year.
