Austria and France to battle it out at Hyères design contest

The jury for the internationally renowned Hyères Fashion and Photography Festival -- presided over by Dutch designer Dries van Noten -- has announced the shortlist for this year's edition, including two entries each from France and Austria, but also from  countries further afield such as Mongolia and South Korea.

The jury for the internationally renowned Hyères Fashion and Photography Festival - presided over by Dutch designer Dries van Noten - has announced the shortlist for this year's edition, including two entries each from France and Austria, but also from  countries further afield such as Mongolia and South Korea.

The French festival, which has brought designers such as Sandra Backlund and Henrik Vibskov to greater public attention, will celebrate a quarter of a century in existence this year.

Round-table conferences and exhibitions make up the program of the event, and the ten designers as well as ten photographers (who have not been announced yet) will compete against each other for a cash prize as well as the professional recognition from the jury including the likes of van Noten or Vogue fashion editors including Sarah Mower and Sally Singer.

The International Fashion and Photography Festival in Hyères takes place at the Villa Noailles from April 30 to May 3.
