Color expert Pantone has released its Fashion Color Report, featuring the ten key colors for next fall's women's wear.

They include the fuchsia Purple Orchid, the rich brown Chocolate Truffle, and the green Woodbine, which together make for a "stunning" and "unexpected" combination for fall, according to the trend experts.

Furthermore, Pantone is pairing its color of the year, turquoise (called Lagoon in the report), with this spring's ultimate trend color, Living Coral.

The rest of the color chart is composed of a deep Lipstick Red, an earthy yellow Golden Glow, the yellow-green Endive, the neutral Oyster Gray, and Rose Dust, a "flattering beige."

"Building on the color palette from spring, this season's offerings include innovative takes on fundamental basics, as well as transporting, lively colors that conjure images of travel and adventure, whether real or aspirational," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

Pantone suggests that blending colors for fall is also inspired by the "ongoing phenomenon of film animation" (e.g., Avatar, which also impacted on beauty trends)

Apart from sketches, interviews, and inspiration provided by designers including Rachel Roy and Tommy Hilfiger, the report features contributions from industry experts such as India Hicks (Crabtree & Evelyn), Cate Adair (costume designer for Desperate Housewives), Eric Sauma (owner of Mood Fabrics, featured on Project Runway), Constance White (style director at eBay) as well as department store executives from Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy's.
