Well, there are some jet-setting fashion surfers out there. Responses to last week's request to tell us about your favourite shop in the world included sixtysomething Margaret: "I look good if I buy clothes anywhere but the UK." Her favourite shop in the world is Ahmdebad in Gujerat, India. It is run by the Self-Employed Women's Association, who will remake clothes or make them from scratch in two hours. Other suggestions: Century 21 in New York, with its cut-price samples from Prada, Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier, Paul Smith in Nottingham, and 1647 in London, with clothes in sizes 16 to 47.

For Internet shopping, Griffin Laundry, the British menswear label which has just shown in Paris for the first time, might be worth a look. The label is releasing the catwalk pictures on to its Internet site very soon. Take a look on http//www.softopt.co.uk/griffin-corp/.
