Irina Shabayeva has won the sixth season of Bravo's fashion design contest
Project Runway.
The Republic of Georgia-born designer beat out Althea Harper and Carol Hannah Whitfield in the finale of the show that aired November 19.
Project Runway was moved from the Bravo to the Lifetime network as a result of legal dispute earlier this year, which delayed the show's premier to almost a year after filming begun. Candidates had consequently remained anonymous when they presented their final collections to the jury at September's New York Fashion Week.
Shabayeva, who had been considered a favorite for the title all season long, wins a money prize of $100,000 as well as a fashion spread in US Marie Claire and a trip to Paris.
The judges, including supermodel and host of the program Heidi Klum, said of her final collection that, even though her clothes were lacking in color, they were "modern" and "sleek" and appealed to a broad audience.
Fans of the show will be compensated for the long wait when Nintendo releases the new Project Runway video game for the Wii game console next spring.
