THE Reject Shop opens its first Scottish branch on Friday, making a total of 28 branches in the UK. The stock will be the usual cheap-and-cheerful mix of products: furniture (wooden folding chairs, from pounds 9.99), floor coverings (woven cotton dhurries from pounds 6.99), kitchen accessories, china, glass and novelties.

Some of the cheaper items include three wine goblets at pounds 1.39, Snapframes from 85p, and Chinese rice bowls from 99p. And if this is not cheap enough to tempt, there is a 10 per cent discount on everything for the first two weeks. The Reject Shop is at 202-212 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow (041 353 2293).
